When people talk about which island resort is the best or the most luxurious, Hayman Island usually gets thrown into the mix. Hayman is one of the oldest of the Whitsunday resorts and has had numerous upgrades and rebuilds to keep up the superb standard that guests expect. This process is continuing today and the older beachfront cabins are now being demolished and replaced by new luxury beach houses. The resort itself has an old world charm. It is not the slick modern timber and stainless steel architecture you see in many of the new resorts. When Hayman Island was last redeveloped it was done in a classic style with lots of marble and ornate cornicing. The swimming pool was a feature of the design and actually covers several acres in area. Most of the accommodation overlooks the pool and the ocean passage between Hayman Island and Hook Island and Langford Reef is just outside the boat harbour and has beautiful coral. Some of the fringing reefs around Hayman Island, in places like Blue Pearl bay have some magnificent coral reefs and if you take a bushwalk, take some snorkeling gear with you because you will be well rewarded.
The resort has its own wing that houses the shopping arcade and the restaurants. There are four beautiful restaurants the largest of which is LaFontaine which is a classical French restaurant. There is also an Asian restaurant and an Italian restaurant. Shops include souvenir, fashion boutiques and a hair dressing salon and there is also a beautiful library area.
Hayman Island is one of Australia’s most popular wedding locations. Not only is there a number of beautiful garden settings or a hillside chapel for the service, but there is a white Rolls Royce and a choice of indoor or outdoor settings for your reception. The honeymoon suite is sensational, and wedding guests can stay on for a few days rest and recreation if they want to. Hayman Island is one of the easiest islands to get to. You can come by fast ferry from either Airlie Beach or Shute Harbour, or you can arrive in style at Hamilton Island airport and catch the luxury ferry from there and enjoy a complimentary glass of wine and canapés on the way across.
No matter how you chose to arrive, you will find that you have truly arrived in paradise if you choose Hayman Island for your honeymoon or holiday.
