When choosing a holiday destination in the Whitsunday islands, Daydream Island resort and Spa is usually one of the first that comes to mind. It is well known throughout Australia as it has historically been one of the most popular of the Whitsunday island resorts. Daydream Island is located only a short distance outside the confines of Shute Harbour and is one of the smallest of the Whitsunday islands that has a resort on it. This size gives the resort a part of its special ambience as you really feel like you are on an island where some of the larger ones could well be a part of the mainland they are so big.

About a decade ago the island was purchased by Vaughan Bullivant when it was in a run down and aged condition. He had just sold a health supplement company for a sum in excess of $100 million dollars and he put this money into a total rebuild of the resort itself and creating the best health spa on any island on Australia’s east coast. The old resort became the staff quarters for the new resort. Bullivant constructed a u shaped development with accommodation on each of the wings and the piece that joined them together became the administration and restaurant section. The new resort has 296 rooms and suites, some of which have views into the pool and gardens region while the rest overlook the magnificent adjoining views over the Whitsunday Passage.
