One of the most beautiful islands in the Whitsundays is Brampton Island. This island is one of the larger ones in the group and is located towards the southern end of the archipelago and only a short ferry or plane ride from Mackay. The whole of the island is a National Park and tourists who like bushwalking, unique forests and a multitude of private beaches and bays will love Brampton Island. The resort is located on the northern shore line and is protected from the prevailing south easterly trade winds. There is a large tidal range in the Whitsundays and beside the resort there is an inlet which dries out at low tide and is a fantastic place for exploring the local coral outcrops and marine life.
Brampton Island resort is one of the best family island resorts on the east coast. It has a range of several different styles of accommodation and these are kept in excellent condition. Brampton Island has its own airport so you can fly in direct from either Hamilton Island or from Mackay. There is also some unique forests here. There is a beautiful stand of Melaleuka trees that are particularly beautiful.
